Posted on June 22, 2011

Attention, maverick brides – are you combing the internet for fantastic non-traditional wedding ideas? Do you have the perfect vintage wedding dress, a memorable wedding venue, and your own handwritten vows? Don’t stop there – we’ve got some fantastic ideas for equally unique wedding centerpieces for your reception.

Submerged Flower Centerpieces

Many types of flowers look really beautiful submerged in tall containers. Below is a beautiful arrangement using a Cymbidium Orchid stem. You can also include branches, curly willow, and/or colored rocks at the bottom for the perfect unique wedding centerpiece.

Succulent Plants as Wedding Centerpieces

Succulent plants are hearty, long-lasting, and require very little maintenance. These also make great take-away gifts for your guests, and there are so many interesting ways to arrange these plants. Pictured below are a few varieties of Echeveria as a small “bud vase” or terrarium style arrangement that you can use as a particularly unique wedding centerpiece.

Incorporating Non-Floral Items into Centerpieces

There are so many ways to be creative with wedding table centerpieces, and we love when brides think outside the box. Some great ideas for unique wedding centerpieces we’ve loved were various fresh or dried fruits (such as submerging lemon slices or grapes), floating candles over submerged flowers, gems, rocks, or branches. One of our own NYC wedding florists at Big Apple Florists used peacock feathers, simple elegant calla lilies, and a small blue light in the bud vase arrangements at her own wedding: feathers in unique wedding centerpiecesWe’d love to hear whatever you can dream up for your wedding reception!
