Inspiration for Thanksgiving Flowers and Celebrating Thanksgiving

When you think Thanksgiving flowers, think Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade - fun, colorful and super creative!  The fall season is a time of vibrant colors and crisp weather when we begin to feel this year's holiday season is upon us.    And just like the name implies, Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving flowers are about being grateful and celebrating! blue-arr-5811 Let's take a look at the history how New Yorkers celebrate on Thanksgiving Day.

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade History

The first Macy's Day parade was in 1924.  Employees and entertainers marched from Harlem to the Macy's store on 34th Street.  Since many of these marchers were immigrants, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade reminded them of festivals in Europe, only now they were celebrating new American traditions.  Live animals from Central Park Zoo were also part of the lineup.  In 1927, the first cartoon character balloon of Felix the Cat made its debut.  And it just so happens that this magnanimous display of balloons goes right along with the themes of Thanksgiving.

So this year, along with the turkey, stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, add warmth and abundance to your home or someone else's with Thanksgiving flowers.
